Collaborations
“Playing in the great city of Chicago allows me the ability to collaborate with many musicians and bands, giving me unique musical experiences that I otherwise would not be able to have. On this page, you can check out projects that have involved me as a featured trumpet player.
Take a listen and enjoy!”

Shout Section Big Band-

Having collaborated for more than half a decade with Brett Dean’s Shout Section Big Band, Joshua Jern has played lead trumpet and had an active role in producing and recording on the band’s two studio albums.  In this video, Shout Section plays the Basie theme song One O’Clock Jump.  Jern plays the trumpet solo at 3:40 and then leads the band on a rousing out-chorus.

Shout section frequently plays all over the Chicago-land area (and beyond!), so take a peek at Shout Section’s website to find out when and where you can next see Joshua Jern perform with this terrific group.  And while you’re there, be sure to order their albums!
